Type design. A decorative typeface that makes use of a modular system and interchangeable components, inspired by various visual communication methods used in Ghana.
Left: The original version of Oware. Right: Examples of the six variations by row (from top to bottom: Power, Spirit, Union, Divinity, Sense, Flux).
Above: Examples of the fifteen possible combinations available when using choosing to work with only two of Oware's six variations. This greatly increases as more components from different sets are added. A potentially infinite number of combinations becomes available when taking into account the components, sets and colours used.
The modular system allowed for various components from different sets to be combined in order to create different abstract patterns.
